Leaf miner

Acrocercops syngramma Meyrick

Leaf miner infestation

Symptoms:

This pest is usually active from October – November to April - May.  The tiny caterpillars mine under the dorsal epidermis of tender leaves and feed within.  As a result grayish-white round blisters appear on leaves.  Pupation takes place within the tunnels.

Control

  1. Remove and destroy promptly the affected leaves in the initial stage of attack.  This will prevent the pest infestation from spreading.
  2. Spray Cypermethrin 0.0125% or Chlorpyriphos 0.05% during new flush emergence.
